I am not knowledgable about nesting season for barn owls. Can someone enlighten me? (on 4/18/00 seen flying out at 11:30AM; on 4/19 and 4/20, seen in the silo.) If you are interested, go to the office at the park, the rangers will have the latest info and the silo is nearby. Last week they added a species to park composite list--Bonaparte's gull in a flock of ring-billled gulls. Also have seen orchard oriole, common yellowthroats, prairie warbler and eastern kingbirds. An hour of mostly car birding on a drizzly afternoon turn up these: Great blue heron,2--flew over together Green heron, 1 Canada goose, 4 Mallard, 5 Turkey vulture,3 Osprey,2 one on nest Cooper's hawk,2 one up high making tracks north, one at tree tops apparently shopping for lunch Killdeer, 1 ,on nest Ring-billed gulls, 38 Rock dove, 1 Mourning dove, 1 Purple martin,1 Barn swallow, 2 American crow, 3 Ruby-crowned kinglet, 1 American robin, 5 European starling Northern mockingbird, 1 Eastern towhee, 2 Northern cardinal, 6 --all males!
