Despite the cold, blustery weather, migrants are pushing forward (Slowly). It looks like Saturday may be a good day to bird along the coast if you can get to it. Reports from observers on the ground and analysis of our acoustic data seem to indicate that we had a significant push of White-throated Sparrows recently. More on this when we get some better numbers... If you do get out over the weekend, please take a minute to record your sightings at the BirdCast site. When combined with the radar images and recordings, your sightings can help us piece together what species are on the move. http://birdsource.tc.cornell.edu/BCDataEntry/ Our forecast for this evening (April 28th) is as follows: "Weather conditions this evening over the Delaware Valley will be marginal for bird migration. With ESE winds aloft, temperatures in the lower 50s and E and NE surface winds, most birds will stay on the ground. However, conditions along the Delmarva and NJ coasts might favor higher than predicted migration in these area."
