Subject: Layhill Park 5/2 5/3 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain MDOsprey, Karen and I spent yesterday evening and this morning in Layhill Park. 5/2 - evening found 2 BLATIMORE ORIOLES (m and f), but they were rapidly chased off by the scuffle between some ORCHARD ORIOLEs. There were 3 Orchards: an adult male and female -obviously dating- and an emphatically singing, immature-plumaged Orchard trying to move in. We also found WHITE EYED VIREO, PRARIE WARBLERS, PARULAs, LOUSIANA WATERTHRUSH, and a BARD OWL. 5/3 - Morning (Ran into Gail and Barry) Not too much activity, but hear PARULAs, PRAIRIES, and many YELLOWTHROATs. Also saw two MAGNOLIAs and a single, quiet YELLOW THROATED VIREO. Also watched a migrating flock of BLUEJAYs dive out of the sky and scatter in the trees in fear of a low-flying single-engine plane. As soon as the "predator" passed, they took off again.
