They were observed at the feeder around noon. Shortly after that, she was perched on a shrub and he was doing fantastic aerial displays around her - obviously showing off as to how strong, virile and acrobatic he was. (It was not clear whether or not she was particularly impressed.) Today they have both been regular visitors to the feeder. And finally - at long last, our slothful Osprey are beginning to do serious nest building. Both yesterday and today they have been making pretty good progress. Last year she began staying on the nest on May 13th, and the one young bird flew off 100 days later. Nest building is later this year than last. We shall see - will they make it -- or not? Local folks say that egg laying after May 15th for Osprey is rare in this area.
