It was a bit difficult -- so many Yellow-rumps calling and darting about, leaves getting well out on the trees -- so some of the following were heard only. A total of 19 species of warbler was recorded, as follows: ca 300 (!!) Yellowrumps, 4 Blackpolls, 6 Black-throated Blue, 3 Black-throated Green, 6 Parulas, 2 Tennessee, 5 Ovenbirds, 3 Nashvilles, 3 Yellowthroats, 4 Black-and-White, 3 Chestnut-sided, 2 Redstart, and one each Yellow, Worm-eating, Bluewinged, Blackburnian, Louisiana Waterthrush, Canada and a beautiful male Cape May at eye level! Other migrants included Swainson's Thrush (2), Veery (2), Hermit Thrush (1), Wood Thrush (6), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (2), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1), ca. 25 Red-eyed Vireos, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 8 Gnatcatchers, 1 Phoebe, 6 Great Crested Flycatchers, 2 Eastern Kingbirds, 2 Swamp Sparrows. This was the first day we did not see or hear a Purple Finch. Numbers of White-throats was well down (ca. 12). Lots of diurnal passage of Blue Jays. Still no Bay-breasted, and few Redstarts and Magnolias, no Pewees or empids yet. Lots more to come, we hope!
