The herons are not actually behind the Space Telescope building. Continue south on St. Martin Dr. until you pass the parking lot. Then scan the beech trees for the nests. There are three nests, and six herons have been seen standing by the nests. You can also find the nests by going down into the parking lot, and then heading into the woods and up the hill at the south end of the lot.
