I assume that the parking lot to which Elliot is referring is that one on the right southbound to which one may walk down the steps but in which no one without a permit may park. A better suggestion for parking is that when one heads north on San Martin Drive, there is a place along the side of the road where one may completely pull off of the road. I think drivers of delivery trucks often use it as a place to stop for lunch. It is roughly behind the President's House to your right up on the hill. I think this will put you generally into the area to which you are referring.
