(5/7) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Howdy All! Inspite of the heat, my yard had a new bird this morning...a Blackpoll. I took this as a good omen. (and Paul, it worked for me ) So I decided to head out birding. I visited Greenwell St Park (Red Trail) in St Marys County and Calvert Cliffs St Pk (Red Trail to the Bay, service rd back to parking) in Calvert County. Only managed a half day out. By 1:30pm, I was bushed, but happy. A 20-warbler day...the birds were active *and* singing in the dead heat of the day! I was amazed. Only new warblers for me were Blackburnian and Blackpoll. Yesterday's (5/6) Southern Maryland Audubon Society Birdathon was off to a slow start (only 7 or 8 warbler species by noon!). Pt Lookout produced though at day's end and we finished with 120+ species within St Marys County. Highlights for the day included a couple Soras calling during the night at Cornfield Harbor, a King Rail at Chaptico Marsh, Red-headed Woodpecker at St Clements, Ruddy Turnstone at Tanner Creek (Pt Lookout), and a very late Great Cormorant at the first set of nets (from picnic area on Potomac side). What a nice weekend! -Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages & get email alerts with Yahoo!
