The heat was a bummer but we had a great time despite the sweat! We hit alot of spots in the county and tallied a total of 111 bird species. The warblers were slow with only 19 species for the day. We did have some strange misses (Hummer, kestrel, pileated and cormorant to name a few). By the end of the trip we had whittled it down to 8 hardy souls who watched the sun set to the buzz of grasshopper sparrows (the PERFECT way to end the day) and the peenting of woodcock. On Sunday Lake Elkhorn yielded a singing WILSON'S warbler, I late= r found out Helen Zeichner had one the same morning at Wilde Lake.
