Kite Comments: To: voice@capaccess.org Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed VON: Ted Vawter and I watched a full-adult Mississippi Kite soar and gli= de -- apparently without ever having to beat his/her wings -- at around 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at Huntley Meadows County Park, Fairfax County= , VA. We watched the bird for about 10 minutes; it gave us a fabulous showing. This was about 2 hours after a very heavy thundershower in thi= s part of Virginia and about 4 hours before the main weather front came through the DC area with the attendant rains and thunder. This was definitely NOT a sub-adult bird, so must be a different individual from those reported from the same location the previous weekend. We also saw a Black-billed Cuckoo a few minutes before in the woods near the observation deck. This message being copied to MDOsprey, since it is just a hop, skip and jump from MD to Huntley.
