While birding, Mike spotted a bird (can't remember which one--boo) eating on an overhead branch and after both getting looks said he though the bird was eating a cicada but didn't seem possible. When I got home and checked the OSPREY, I noted many other birders who mentioned cicadas and thought maybe it was possible. Then while reading last night, I came across an article in the May-June, 2000 issue of the Audubon magazine on cicadas. Worth the reading and very interesting. Maybe we are in for an "invasion". By the way, we recorded 60 species on the count and heard more overbirds, wood thrushes and peewees than ever before. One of the highlights of a very hot and humid day!
