It got quiet a bit sooner th= an expected -- perhaps the early flurry of activity reflected some wet, cold migrants seeking sun and food as the rising sun touched the trees at this= , the highest area of the park. In any case -- we recorded 14 warbler spec= ies, including ca. 60 Yellowrumps (aren't they *ever* going to leave?), 1 Blac= k & White, 2 Bay-breasted, ca. 5 Canadas, 1 Blackburnian, ca. 10 Chestnut-sid= ed, ca. 10 Magnolia, 4 Balck-throated Green, 6 Black-throated Blue, 3-4 Ovenb= irds, 1 Parula, 1 Northern Waterthrush, 7 Yellowthroats, 1 Wormeating. Also see= n was a very cooperative Gray-cheeked Thrush, 4 Swainson's, 1 Veery, 6-8 Wo= od Thrushes, 2 Brown Thrashers, 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 1 Baltimore Oriol= e, 6 Scarlet Tanagers, 2 Yellow-billed Cuckoos, 4 Wood Pewees, 1 Phoebe, 1 Acadian FC, 2 White-throated Sparrows lingering, 2 BC Night Herons overhe= ad. No sign/sound of the Mourning Warbler that was at the 'dog run' Thursday = and Friday. We returnd home to see a Periodical Cicada fly across our front garden in Colesville -- this one I captured -- it appeared healthy and was a male. = No singing yet, however -- but they are on the way!
