They do app= ear different than the more common cicadas I am use to seeing in the yard, an= d perhaps somewhat earlier (?) in emerging also. I've noticed a lot of the= m this morning, but don't hear any calling yet. To make this bird related, I just now returned from showing my parents Ju= g Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, but few birds were apparent on the mud flats or above the river and only the usual suspects calling in the woods, but my parents did get to see their first Osprey (my parents live in Cottonwood, Arizona).
