Pete Dunne said it best at the Sunday Brunch: "Yesterday was the best single day of birding I have ever had in my entire life!" Our team, the MOS MD Yellowthroats, tied for first place in the single-county division and came in tenth in the overall standings with a tally of 180 species! The tie group was the ABA Youth Team, led by Mike O'Brien and Louise Zemaitis. The third-place team in the single-county division was the Audubon Naturalist Society Team, with 171 species. I have to say that it was a great day for the Maryland birders, even if some of them have "temporarily" moved to Cape May! Even though all the hooting is over, we would still be pleased to accept donations in support of our team. Income from the donations and pledges go to support the MOS out-reach programs, notably our scholarship and research efforts. If you would like to contribute, please send a check, made payable to MOS, to me, Norm Saunders, at 1261 Cavendish Drive, Colesville, MD 20905-7030. To those who already pledged or donated, thank you for your wonderful support!
