They were the same size of a Peregrine Falcon but had a dark tail that was flared and notched. Soaring between wingbeats they did not seem to be in a hurry. I saw the Kite reach to it's feet with beak three times while soaring as if eating. As the adult banked I was able to see darker primaries and a white trailing edge along the secondary flight feathers. See ya!
