Stops were made at 38 = points (one stop was missed) 1/2 mile apart throughout the North Tract = of the refuge. Whips were either heard or seen at 29 of the 38 stops, with a total of = 86 birds calling and 4 seen at the stops. This was quite an increase from the 58 Whip-poor-wills heard two weeks = earlier during the first survey and was a small increase in the number = of stops were birds were seen or heard. The first survey counted Whips = seen or heard at 27 out of the 39 stops.
