Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 12:52:41 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Jim Felley Subject: Lincoln Monument birds, 5/17 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Today's walk produced the following highlights: Eastern Wood-Pewee Eastern Kingbird - several, defending territories Great Crested Flycatcher - ditto Brown Thrasher - a couple near the DC Veteran's Monument, acting like a nest was nearby Cedar Waxwing - a flock in Constitution Gardens Blackpoll Warbler - most abundant warbler, they were everywhere American Redstart - second most common Yellow Warbler - a few, including one that seems to be on a territory near the Reflecting Pool Common Yellowthroat - several Wilson's Warbler - one male, in Constitution Gardens (new for my Mall list) Baltimore Orioles - a couple of pair, nesting I presume, very hard to see and singing little Here's who I haven't seen yet: Orchard Orioles, a couple of which nested near the Reflecting Pool last year. Also, at home in Gaithersburg, this morning Chipping Sparrows finally showed up. Where have they been?
