Date: Wed, 17 May 2000 23:29:42 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: leslie fisher Organization: cecil bird club Subject: Cecil- Black Crowned Night( and other ) Herons MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi All: I set out for Elkton this am ( 5/17 ) to " get " BLACK CROWNED NIGHT HERON for my county list, and was able to find it easily at all 3 locations I went to a) one adult at the pond on upper Delaware Ave, lovely close view of the white plume b) another adult at the Meadows fish hatchery ponds ( also here were 3 GREEN HERONS and 4 LITTLE BLUE HERONS ) c) yet another adult at Howard Pond. Last summer I had an immature BCNH at the first location; presumably there is nesting ocurring. My other target birds, Snowy Egret and Glossy Ibis did not appear. No birding now `til the conference. Counting down the hours.
