We ended up with 108 species. Here are some of the highlights: SURF SCOTER at Black Hill- this was the biggest surprise of the day. It's an immature male, and was visible from the parking area at the Clarksburg Rd bridge. SCREECH OWL on Clopper Rd- also a surprise and life bird for me. BARRED OWL with two partially fuzzy youngins along Hunting Quarter Rd. COMMON NIGHTHAWK from parking lot for Little Bennett's Schoolhouse Trail. WHIP-POOR-WILLS heard from the same place. WILLOW FLYCATCHER found by Mike Bowen's group at Hughes Hollow. CLIFF SWALLOWS at both Lake Needwood and Brighton Dam. several NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES at Hughes Hollow. CANADA WARBLER on Sycamore Landing Rd. HOODED WARBLER at corner of Tucker Lane and New Hampshire Ave. BOBOLINKS on Triadelphia Lake Rd. Also notable were the chicken salad sandwiches, effects of sleep deprivation, lack of shorebirds (and a plethora of other misses) and of course, the dumb luck we had in finding half of these birds.
