Mike Callahan, congratulations on the wonderful job you did dealing with the inevitable behind-the-scenes glitches! You deserve a lot of credit, along with your marvelous local coordinating committee for the successful conference we had this year. It's just a shame that you haven't yet mastered the art of weather control! Grin... Jannelle Dietrich deserves a big round of applause as well. Proceeds from the silent auction and raffle exceeded $2,200 and this money will go to Scales and Tales to build some new raptor cages at Greenbrier State Park in Washington County. Way to go, Janelle! And way to go, everyone who made it out to Hagerstown this past weekend. We had close to 260 attendees, about 60 field trips (including one where the participants were serenaded with 45 minutes of impromptu bluegrass music while they dried off from the pouring rain in front of a roaring fire!) , about 165 species of birds, and the opportunity to renew old friendships. What more could one ask for? As the Washington Post likes to say, "If you missed it, you missed it!" Congrats to Karen Morley for her election to MOS President! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have, Karen. Paul Zucker has ascended to the Vice President's position and Shiras Guion was elected as the new Treasurer, succeeding Jeff Metter. Congratulations to all off our new Officers! Finally, the get-together this year was a bit smaller than in the past but just as much fun, as we chatted with many of our friends till close to midnight on Friday. If you couldn't make it, then maybe next year!
