The ol= d record was 128 set by Boyd, Illif, Jett, and Stasz in May, 1996. Our f= inal tally was 131. Highlights were the Chuck-will-widows and Whip-poor-wills singing on eith= er side of Durham Church Road at 5:15 am, morning chorus at Nanjemoy, Gwe= n's flyby Nighthawk, my brief view of the flight of a Least Bittern at Al= len's Fresh (our only unshared birds), singing Swainson's Thrush and myri= ad of warblers (Kentucky, Hooded, Wilson's (seen), American Redstart, Nor= thern Waterthrush, Prairie, and Ovenbird) on Hancock Run Road at 6:05 AM.= Bald Eagle, Red-headed Woodpeckers and Summer Tanager (state bird for G= wen) on Rt. 224 near Liverpool Point Road, shorebirds at Allen's Fresh (6= - count them, Short-billed Dowitchers, 10 Semipalmated Plovers, both Yel= lowlegs, Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers, Spotted and Solitary Sandpipe= rs), and the mother (assumed) and four young Pied-billed Grebe at Myrtle = Grove. Gwen came through on the ducks, finding a single female Green-win= ged Teal, a single male Lesser Scaup, and two Red-breasted Mergansers.
