Date: Tue, 30 May 2000 09:34:47 EDT Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Gail Mackiernan Subject: Dickcissel in DC Hi all -- On Sunday, while I was away at dog shows, my husband Barry went down to Kingman Lake, DC (near RFK Stadium) to look for the shorebirds which Paul Pisano had reported. He did see some nice birds, including two White-rumped Sandpipers and a Stilt Sandpiper. But the best bird (for DC listers at least) was probably the female Dickcissel he had along he shoreline. He spent some time listening for a male (possible breeding?) but no luck, so it may have just been a bird passing through. However, worth looking for... Caution -- non-MD/DC report to follow -- he also had an adult Mississippi Kite perched at Huntley Meadows just at the beginning of the boardwalk, in dead trees to the right.
