Marshall, Shorebirds at Hart-Miller Island actively feed on either fresh or "aged" dredged material. The fresh material appears to be full of organisms from the Bay. I suspect that the "aged" material contains less Bay organisms and more insect species. I have no data to back up that last hypothesis.
