It was hot, hot, hot. We stopped off at Bombay Hook and = did add King Rail, Black-neck Stilts, and Marsh Wrens to our year's = list. =20 We drove Port Mahon road to the second pier. Saw spawning horseshoe = crabs but fewer than 50 shorebirds (Sanderlings and Turnstones) and lots = and lots of gulls. Drove to Little Creek and there was nothing but a few gulls. Then to = Mispillion Light House where we got our Red Knots. However, again not a = large number of shorebirds. Our final stop was Slaughter Beach where we saw more Limulus that we = thought we might considering the current situation, but very few = shorebirds, some Semipalmated Sandpipers among the crabs. =20 Getting out for a day, seeing spawning Limulus, and the birds that = were present was great. Hearing the song of the Willets made our day. =20 Ben Poscover Towson MD bposcove@bcpl.net =20 ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
