Bob Rineer first spotted the Kite at 8:45 a.m. It stayed for about 20 minutes diving around and doing Kite things, apparently feeding on dragonflies. Then it disappeared for ten minutes and reappeared for five more. I, on the other hand, was walking from my car down the path to join Bob as it was leaving. Sigh. The other Mississippi Kites were seen on May 9, 18 (also a Swallow-tailed Kite that day), and 24. Fort Smallwood Park is located on the western shore of Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patapsco River, about 11 miles south of Baltimore, MD. All numbers are unofficial. Sue A.
