Any recent news on the Loggerhead Shrike[s] at Lilypons in Frederick County? I was there Friday afternoon and spent half an hour near the intersection of Lilypons Rd and Rt 85, carefully scanning treetops, wires, fenceposts, and bushes, but to no avail. I also drove slowly out Oland Rd, north on New Design Rd, east on Adamstown Rd, and south again on Rt 85. Zero. Zip. Nada. Was 0 for 6 on Northerns. Now 0 for 2 on Loggerheads. Left with the dratted INVISIBLE MORPH birds. Oh, and MUTE, too... While I'm at it, I remember hearing Ring-necked Pheasants years ago (early 90s) along Mountville? Rd (sorta diagonal from "T" intersection with Oland Rd and New Design Rd). Were these released birds? There also used to be Ring-necked Pheasants (as late as 1994) just north of Monacacy Battlefield Monument in the field on the west side of Rt 355 (just south of the Norwest office complex). I've only been back once since then (1999), but did not hear them. Released birds, too? -Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
