It lands between the trunk and the branch. I can see the it's body and part of it's head. THEN, it slowly peeks out to look at me..it shys away & hides it's face again. Then it peeks out again and looks at me for a few more seconds before it shys away again... Finally, he peers out his head rather boldly, looks at me and Who, Hooos me, as he's looking at me !!! :) I waved to him. :) But across the path is the other ADULT owl who's just taking in the scenery !:) I didn't see the baby so we continued on our merry ole way. As I continue my walk around the lake, I run into a couple of different fellow birding friends I hadn't seen in some time. They're looking for the owl(s) also, as they hadn't seen them, so I take them to where I've seen them. One of the adults is still around but we can't seem to find the other one.. However, a little more scanning & I locate him. :) No sign of the BABIES yet..oops I mean baby. ;) So as they're checking out the view, I take the girls (my dogs) up the hilly path to get a different view of the owl. I then run into another fellow birding friend, She's there to check out the owls also... So I'm looking at the 'adult' but it sure does look different to me... AND there's a fluffy ball of fur next to it. I don't know what it is..and I'm really confused now...so down the hill I go again, check out the adult from that angle then turn around to go up the hill again (with Katie & foo-foo Leah in tow). BUT wait a minute !!! I see the adult owl alright but that other owl w/the fluffy fur next to it IS the baby..however, it sure looked different from the baby I saw yesterday ! I thought it must have really matured overnight..though a little baffled and still not sure what the fur ball is, I soon realize that the fur ball next to it is ALSO a BABY !!! Hoo-Hoo-HOORAY !!! The Furball looks funny because he's laying down looking at the ground !!! I had to go back to the bottom of the hill to look for the babies and sure enough he's just checking out the view all crouched over !!! :) We're all pretty excited by this new enchanting event ! Pretty soon, that furball sits up and turns around..I go up the hill again. Sure enough I check both of those little guys and that fur ball was the one I had seen the day before yesterday !! The one next to it, still looked young and downy but not like the other one. After awhile they both made short flights to different branches.. We watched them crawl and walk up the branches, all the while, the parents were close by keeping track of them.. I was there from 6:45p-8:30ish ! I didn't get home until well past 9p..only to bathe down Leah who had rolled in some nasty, nasty stuff while I was absorbed watching > the owls. UGH !!!! Nontheless, it was a very "HOOOOL Evening !"
