Thanks so much to all who posted details on MDosprey! Due to excellent info we were able to find the Shrike fairly quickly and were able to get wonderful looks through not one but 6 scopes! The bird was feeding from the fenceposts and fence wires. At one point he upset a Blue Grosbeak that was also on the wire, and the grosbeak became quite agitated. (This was a lifer or state bird for most of the group.) We then went in seach of the Dickcissels and had wonderful luck with incredible looks of singing males. They were perched upon the thistle blooms and just magnificent! We also had singing Grasshopper sparrows and meadowlarks in the same field. Over at Lily-pons we heard two Virginia rails calling and Great egrets were easily seen along with the usuals. Bonnie Ott p.s. Tonight is the evening walk at Wilde Lake and we hope to see the Barred Owl babies. 7:00 p.m. at the boat dock. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
