The Whip-poor-will counts for the two routes were similar to those of = the 3rd survey which was run two weeks prior. For the two routes there = were 38 birds heard calling and one seen. Whips were heard at 17 of the = 26 points on the two routes. The more exciting news for the survey was that Chuck-will's-widows were = heard at three stops along one of the routes. To hear multiple = Chuck-will's-widows calling is very unusual for this North/West portion = of Anne Arundel County. This certainly creates interesting baseline = information for our survey which I think we will now rename to call it = the Whip/Chuck survey at the North Tract of Patuxent Research Refuge.
