I'd prediceted an explosion in Savage River for this week? It happened today. I had family groups of Black-throated Blue Warblers and Slate-colored Juncos. The Pileateds are no longer visiting the nest hole, so either the chicks fledged, or something happened. Other techs had family groups of Black-capped Chickadees, Black-throated Green Warblers and others I'm not remembering right now. The Blue-headed Vireo nest has apparently fledged. Found American Robins carrying nesting material well inside a dark hemlock forest - don't they know they're not supposed to be there? Got my 8th snake species in Green Ridge the other day - Corn snake, which surprised me. When I looked it up, the book said there is a disjunct population in the ridges of MD, WVA and PA. It also said they are browner, and this one was, indeed. Sorry for the incorrect abbreviation for Cerulean the other day. I was tired!
