Hi Ospreyers -- We are hosting an ornithologist friend who is anxious to see certain American birds. He is spending most of his time at the Smithsonian so will not have a lot of chance to bird, but perahps we can help him connect with a few of the following: 1) Barred Owl -- We checked a local site where a bird was nesting but the young have fledged and no one was home - if anyone has a reliable site, you can post it to me privately. We will not use tapes. 2) Vesper Sparrow -- as I posted earlier, couldn't locate one around the New Design area today (though could easily have missed it). Have there been any at Hughes Road this year? 3) Virginia Rail -- I know there was one with young at Lilypons earlier -- if anyone saw these birds, about where were they seen within the property? 4) Whip-poor-will?? Thanks in advance for information -- will let you know how we do.
