MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Have just returned from Lily Pons area in search of the shrike, which I missed. Heard a strange call from Lily Pons Road, just east of 85. The call sounded something like: 'tiddly tiddly' and was repeated at regular intervals for several minutes. The call came from the corn part of the field to the north of the road. Although I peered intently at this bit of corn for a good while, the bird did not show and soon stopped calling (presumable it kept tight to the ground). I heard the same call in the same field on May 28. I would appreciate any comments on what this bird might be. There were several grasshoppper sparrows singing along Lily Pons and Oland Mills and Cap Stine roads. A colorful male dickcissel was singing from overgrown pasture by Cap Stine, and a duller (female?) bird was also present.
