Whizzed into MD to catch up with work on Wed/Thu and to go birding with some out-of-state friends. Thu night - Elliotts Island (12-3am) A single, very distant calling Black Rail 6.3 miles south of Henry's Crossroads (0.3 miles south of 1st abandoned house). Other stuff included clapper & virginia rails, lots of marsh wrens & seaside sparrows, and calling black-necked stilts. Fri - lower eastern shore (skimmer island, eagle's nest campground, elliotts island) usuals at skimmer island. 9 piping plovers at eagle's nest and a flyby sandwich tern. b-n stilts were great at elliotts island--saw them all the way down to the town of elliott. nice views of saltmarsh sharp-tailed sparrows just south of the dirt boat ramp about .5 miles south of the 1st abandoned house on the east side of the road. calling chucks south of the crossroads. calling whips 1 mile west of the crossroads. no black rails this evening. Sat - Fred Co. & W. MD. the hay fields were mowed along cap stine rd. about 1.4 miles south of intersection w/ s. renn rd found 4 dickcissels. found henslows sp on old legislative in allegany. also a least flycatcher...calling! -greg back in ohio __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
