Airy I was even in Carroll and Howard Counties (Briefly). This is the Montgomery County portion: The Route 108 pond is almost history. There is a low fence around the property, with a sign that says something like "coming soon, 2 to 5 acre plots". A construction trailer sits behind the old house and a lot a ground behind the construction towers has been bulldozed. )-: Still some geese there on the pond, of course. Some birds of interest: Along Long Corner Road east of Damascus, between Rt. 108 and Mullinix Road: GRASSHOPPER SPARROW and HORNED LARK, one each singing, in the same field. At and near the corner of Long Corner Road and Gue Road (anyone know how to pronounce Gue?): a pair of BLUE GROSBEAKs feeding a young bird; a female BALTIMORE ORIOLE landed on the top of a tree with something in its beak, fluttered its wings, and was approached by first one and then another adult male! A bird singing (but not seen) a slightly odd song that resembled VESPER SPARROW more than Song Sparrow; it was in a small bush/sapling at the edge of a cultivated field with low plants and lots of bare ground rather than the bushes, shrubs, etc. where the Song Sparrows were singing. From a wooded portion of Brown Church Road: HOODED WARBLER YELLOW-THROATED VIREO OVENBIRD Best, Rob Hilton aimophila@jahoopa.com Silver Spring Md. _____________________________________________________ Sent by Jahoopa Free Email!
