I had Whip-poor-wills at Russell Road (at least 3 individuals singing; probably more). Vesper sparrows started singing here too around 5 am along with several Grasshopper and Field Sparrows. I also heard a single Savannah but I heard no Henslowe's at this spot. Then I zoomed over to the Oakland Wastewater Treatment Plant where an Upland Sandpiper was vocalizing. Ticked that and the singing Willow flycatcher. About 8 Wood Ducks were swimming in the tanks. Table Rock had at least 2 singing male Mourning Warblers, a singing winter wren, and 4 + Juncos including at least 2 streaky breasted juvies. A Rose-breasted Grosbeak was singing off and on and several Chestnut-sided Warblers were about. I ran into two other foks here (Gwen and George) also looking at birds. Next I went to Combination Road and heard at least 3 Henslowe's sparrows singing all around me (did not actually see a single one). A male Bobolink was entertaining for my 10 minute stay and two Eastern Bluebirds were on the fence on the left as I drove out of the dirt road. I also went to the Youghiougheny Reservoir where I didn't find my target Yellow-throated Warbler that I thought I understood to be here. It may have been to late in the day. I heard only Yellow and Chestnut-sided Warblers here. I did have a Yellow-throated Vireo. The Whip was a county bird for me and was quite nice to hear. I also heard what I think was a Leopard frog on Rt. 936 near Frostburg while owling unsuccessfully there. J.B. ====================================================== John B. Churchill, M.S.
