Historical trip turned biological, as right at the parking lot I had a Yellow-billed Cuckoo about 10 feet off the ground. Several Prothonatory Warblers were # 216 for MD for me this year. I'd had them in South Carolina in April, but missed them in MD so far. Bank Swallows nesting in the opposite (out of state) banks of the Potomac. Lots of Indigo Buntings, A Yellow Warbler, Bluebirds, etc. All that without binoculars... I'll have to bird it for real sometime. But perhaps the most exciting thing for me was hearing Cricket Frogs!! I never knew they were found at that elevation in MD, not that they sang nearly that late into the season. Have a great 4th weekend.
