At first, I thought the "evenly metered cu - cu - cu ..." [cf Bill Schreitz posting] was a cheap car alarm. On occasion, I hea= r the (alarm?) call of ka-ka-ka-ka-kow-kow-kow as well. I think they also sound like sick crows (caaawwww) sometimes but have not observed it simultaneously. I have seen the bird a couple of times but most often hea= r it. It is located along the yellow trail on the north-eastern part of soldiers delight where the trail loops around a house in the valley and n= ear the Oakside development (where I live). I have heard it in two locations = in that general area and seen it down in the valley.
