MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I don't know about MD, But I live in Dover PA . Back in 1988 I obtained a dozen Chuckers and released them from my home. There is about 120 acres of farmland and upland habitat adjacent to my place. Instead of the birds flying to that habitat, they flew over my house and across the street into a subdivision never to be heard from again. About a year ago a friend from about a 1/4 mile away on the othe= r side of that subdivision. took a picture of a rare bird in his back yard. His place also borders upland habitat on the other side. I laughed, It was a chucker, twelve years later. Can only guess that some of the birds survived and lived to reproduce. Those, Chuckers came from my boss, who at the time was raising pheasants and chuckers in his chicken house for sale to some processer as poultry for distribution to exclusive restaurants. The only other way I know of them establishing themselves was as escapees from regulated shooting preserves. Which is how they were introduced to the western U.S. They are also raised for their feathers as a fly tying material.
