Peafowl were imported by farmers, especially tobacco farmers, because the= y did a good job of removing larger pests. All of the ones I have run acro= ss in Maryland have been at least semi-domestic an in association with farms. They can successfully raise young in our climate, but I suspect they need= a helping hand to make it through the winter. Has anyone else seen "feral" Emus? I found one at Aquas Farm Park in Prin= ce George's County. Good Birding!
