I didn't succeed in that mission, but I found some nice things along the wa= y. In the early morning fog there were 2 Vesper Sparrows singing on the west= end of Walnut Tree Rd. One even came out and sat in the middle of road so I could get a good look at. As I drove through Queen Anne's county to get = to Ridgely I saw a Cliff Swallow in with a flock of Barn Swallows just off R= t. 313. Then on Ell Downes Rd. there was a Dickcissel singing in the south field 0.4 miles west of Rt. 313 [DeLorme 51 A4]. At Ridgely I was disappointed by the lack of shorebirds. The water level seemed pretty hi= gh. There were 6 Spotties, 2 Lesser Yellowlegs, and 2 Killdeer all on the dyk= es. Another surprise was a Black-billed Cuckoo on Eveland Rd. 0.2 miles south= of Crouse Mill Rd. [DeLorme 50 C3]. A stop by Tanyard produced 1 adult Moor= hen with 5 chicks. At Easton the water level was also high and there were no birds. After that I made my way home.
