The gr= eat views via binocs showed the fully black bill, red eye ring, and uniformly grey back. When it finally flew there was no sign of the rust on wings i= n flight as would be expected for a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. A few minutes later, I heard its gentle call from the nearby woods. This was yard list bird Number 147 for my home near Tunis Mills, Talb= ot County. I have heard and/or seen Yellow-billed Cuckoos here each year since o= ur arrival, but this was the first Black-billed that I had confidently identified. It is possible that some of the others that I had heard had actually been Black-billed. Also, for the past two weeks, several Bob Whites have been frequentin= g this area - calling from several different points, and often perching in some of the walnut trees near my house. I have heard as many as three calling at the same time.
