Sunny all day with few cloud cover from the S. Wind from the SW. Raptor Migration Highlight: Too hot for any movement. Non-Raptor Migration Highlight: Season first N. Rough-winged Swallow at 9:31am headed SW. Other swallows: Tree Swallow at 9:32am headed SW, Barn Swallow at 10:11am headed W, Barn Swallow at 10:17am headed SWW, and Cliff swallow at 10:52am headed SW. Butterfly Migration Highlight: n/a Non-Migrants Highlight: Yesterday, got a imm. Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the butterfly bushes along side of driveway. Today a first time Red-spotted Purple at the bushes along with dozens of Silver-spotted Skippers. Topography of the Site: - steep ridge about 180-200' above Belair Rd. - about 260' above sea level - It runs northeast to southwest - the first ridge west of the Chesapeake Bay - 12 miles from bay, 5 miles NW of Back River - my hawkwatch is 150 yards west of the ridge - Fairwood Ave runs along side of ridge My hawkwatch is located in my backyard. Most of the hawk flights arrive from the northeast and a few from the north and northeast-east.
