(site manned, it depends on the weather, 8am-7pm (Aug.), available on Mon.-Fri. 8am-2pm, Sat 1pm-7pm, & Sun. 8am-7pm or 11:30am-7pm depend on work. Partly Cloudy all day. Wind from the in am and part of early pm, changed to E around 2pm and back to NE before 6pm. Raptor Migration Highlight: NE and E winds are no good for raptors. Non-Raptor Migration Highlight: Busy late afternoon with N. Rough-winged and kettles of swifts very high. For second straight day, a Great Egret at 5:08pm headed SWW. 2 Unidentified swallows again seen at east end of ridge at distance (need a tower badly at the ridge to cover both sides). So far the best month for early migrants with 116 birds counted in 10 days between July 13 to 23 (17th cancelled) and today last day for this month as I head off for a week in Delaware and will return for August 1st for hawks. Butterfly Migration Highlight: Not sure if Monarch was a migrant, spotted at 5:02pm headed SWW. I don't usually get one until mid August. Non-Migrants Highlight: Increasing activities of swifts wandering around with 40 birds and 30 other was a migrants.
