So I went shorebirding 40 miles inla= nd between Seaford, DE and Federalsburg, MD. Starting in Delaware, I found numerous Killdeer and Lesser Yellowlegs, a few Least Sands, Greater Yellowlegs, and single Spotted and Solitary Sands along Hearn's Pond and Briar Hook roads. Moving on to MD, there are puddles along Oak Grove Rd = at the Vesper Sparrow spot I have reported previously. This is also within sight of the puddle on MD 577 that had a Ruff last spring (it is there, b= ut the view is obstructed by tall corn). At the Vesper spot, there are 2 puddles in a soybean field where the beans are maybe 6"tall. The birds m= ove in and out of the beans and easily hide because each time I scanned I cam= e up with something different. All told there were 6 Lesser and 1 Greater Yellow, 15 Pectoral Sands, 3 Least Sands and a Reeve. There was also a Green Heron that landed about 75' away and gave great looks. Songbirds included 3 singing Vespers, and 2 imm Orchard Orioles that got chased by = a Kingbird. Good Birding, Glen Lovelace III Seaford, DE ========================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ========================================================================= ===========================================================================
