Astronomers and amateur star-gazers are also concerned about the creeping sprawl of glare that is making night-sky viewing more difficult. In response, I post a message that I received from David Corum, who is inviting you to an important event on Monday night: Hi folks, It's confirmed: Dave Crawford, IDA President and Astronomer Emeritus at Kitt Peak National Observatory, will speak to area astronomers and dark sky enthusiasts next Monday at the National Air & Space Museum, in Washington, D.C. Prof. Crawford's talk, "Preserving the Nighttime Environment and our Heritage of Dark Skies," will begin at 7 p.m. We regret the late notice, but Crawford's availability was confirmed only this morning. There is no charge for the event. I will e-mail additional information about entry into the building later this week. Otherwise, please contact me if you have any questions. Also, please distribute this announcement to anyone with an interest in reclaiming and preserving our dark skies. Finally, many thanks to Eric Adams and Bob Gent for making it happen. I hope to see everyone there Monday night.
