Thanks, Bonnie, for posing the question, and others for sharing their anecdotes. The MDOsprey is such a great medium for this kin= d of exchange. Obviously these elusive birds are high on many people's target = list. It appears that the technique of "marsh bumbling" -- I love that phrase -= - wins out over sitting and waiting by about 1000 to 0. Now, aside from goi= ng to Florida, can anyone recommend any locations where one can explore on public land, either on foot or by small boat? Is Gunpowder State Park or Black Marsh in Baltimore County a possibility? Farther afield, how about Elliott Island, Deal Island or EA Vaughn? I also read in Claudia Wilds' b= ook that the ANS sponsors boat trips at Jug Bay where there is a good chance = of finding Least Bitterns. Anyone have experience with this method?
