There was alot of activity of the expected sort and many juveniles. A GREAT EGRET perched upon a sapling on an island at the wildlife end. A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO called repeatedly and altough many eyes scanned the treetops we never were able to spot the bird. A GREAT-CRESTED flycatcher was busy feeding amidst the foliage at the shallow end. Big numbers of BARN SWALLOWS and PURPLE MARTINS were waiting for the fog to lift to begin their breakfast. Young CRADINALS everywhere along with numerous CATBIRDS and one juvenile TOWHEE. A small flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS twittering on the upper corner along with a glimpse of a silent empid( a strange place for him and no help towards ID by habitat). A few YELLOW WARBLERS and COMMON YELLOWTHROATS. Many young SONG SPARROWS and a nice group of baby CHIPPING SPARROWS with their lovely streaked breasts.
