Subject: Digital camera picts MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1" MDOsprey, Disclaimer: This is only indirectly related to birds, but I want to share pictures of such taken with our new digital camera. It is amazing where this technology is now; pictures with good resolution and decent color saturation are becoming affordable. We have already been able to use the camera to help confirm the identification a few immatures. The pictures of the baby beaver (what a cute little tail!) were taken at Huntley Meadows, VA and the rest (including birds) were either there or our yard in Cloverly, MD. Most of these are taken with all automatic settings, since it is still new and I don't know how to drive it yet. (a few were taken with manual focus which explains why they are not in focus). However, the camera is capable of complete or partial manual control for those more experienced or artistic. All were taken on the second highest (of five) resolution settings. Anyway, this is mostly to show this community what is capable of becoming-affordable, digital cameras in case some of you are beginning to look. This camera has a 5x optical zoom and we bought a 2x adapter for the front. So anything I can see in my 10x bins, I can catch on digital film now. oh yea! it also takes up to 15 seconds of video with audio.
