What you usually get is a rude and defensive response. I once politely pointed out to a person at a state park once that dogs were not permited where he, his family, and his dog were getting out of their vehicle, according to the sign in place at that time. I thought he was going to come over and hit me. After about a minute of bluster (verbal and non-verbal) he and the whole entourage got back in to the vehicle and left. He and his family were not birders.
