MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Howdy All! I actually got home with a little daylight this evening and watched a few yard birds. My Orchard Orioles have been gone for 3 wks now. A couple of Carolina Wren nests have new fledgelings...always a treat to see tiny wrens with stubs for tails...they look SOOOOOO comical. Bobwhites seem to have done well this year, but the real number of young still eludes me. I've not seen more than 4 at a time. I have not seen E Wood-pewee young, but they are nesting here. Families of Tufted Titmice and Carolina Chickadees are playing antics around the house. Ospreys are regulars in the tallest trees and snags near the water. Blue Grosbeaks sing beautifully in the evenings. It's nice to be home once in a while! To top things off tonight, I had a chorus of cicadas representing 3 species: Tibicen chloromera Tibicen lyricen Tibicen robinsoniana (this was a thriller for me) The last species is like finding a decent specialty bird. It's (to my knowledge) only been recorded in 4 small areas in southern Maryland. Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
